Hailing from the North Yorkshire coast, Sunbeam are a five-piece indie band from Whitby building a reputation for huge songs, packed-out shows and a live set made to be sung back.

Formed over a decade ago, the band have grown from their hometown roots into one of the North’s most exciting independent live acts. Their rise has been built the old-fashioned way — relentless gigging, their own music and a loyal audience that continues to grow far beyond Whitby.

Sunbeam have now sold out multiple 1,000-capacity hometown headline shows and taken their live show across the UK, including two headline tours featuring sold-out dates. Along the way, they’ve appeared at Y Not Festival, Isle of Wight Festival and Truck Festival, while sharing stages with established acts including Kaiser Chiefs and The K’s.

Their music has received national support from Radio X and BBC Introducing, with their songs also receiving multiple plays on BBC’s Match of the Day and featuring across BBC Sounds. Their growing presence across national radio, television and streaming platforms has helped Sunbeam reach audiences far beyond their North Yorkshire roots. Their sound is rooted in classic British indie — big guitars, soaring melodies and choruses designed for a crowd.
